Fall 2026 Testing Schedule

The Testing Center has returned to Room F115. Admission to the center ends 15 minutes prior to closing.

August 19 – December 12, 2026 (Standard Hours):

• Monday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (see exceptions below)
• Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. -7 p.m. (see exceptions below)
• Saturday, 9 a.m. -2 p.m. (OPEN on dates below)
  • August 15 and 29
  • September 12 and 19
  • October 10, 17, and 31
  • November 7 and 14
  • December 5 and 12

The Testing Center will be closed or have altered hours on the following dates:

• July 28-August 18: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
• September 7: Labor Day (Offices Closed, Classes meet as scheduled)
• November 23-27: Fall/Thanksgiving Break (College Closed)
• December 21-January 1 (2027): Winter Break (College Closed)

Testing Services

The Testing Center administers proctored course testing for all schools within the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), and non-VCCS schools. We must receive the information from the issuing school 3 business days in advance. Certification exams for outside agencies must be arranged 7 business days in advance and require an appointment.

Testing Fees

Proctor fees must be paid through the cashier’s office in advance of testing. Testers must bring a copy of their receipt to the testing center.

• No fee for BRCC or VCCS students.
• Course exams for non-VCCS schools and agencies = $30.00 each.
• Certification exams for outside agencies (VDOT, real estate schools, etc.) = $40.00 each.

Guidelines

• Students must provide photo ID. 
• Students must provide their 7-digit EMPLID (Student ID) number.
• Cell phones and smart watches are not permitted while testing but are required for online test login.
• Personal laptops may not be used for testing.
• Electronic listening devices may not be used while testing, unless required for particular tests.
• Students may not use personal calculators. Testing center will provide calculators if permitted by instructors.
• Children not permitted.
• No food allowed.
• Drinks must have lids.

Tests

Placement Testing

English and Math placement testing is only available on a case-by-case basis. Please consult an admissions advisor about the need for these placement tests. Contact info@brcc.edu or Advising for additional assistance.

Anatomy Placement Test (APT)

The Anatomy Placement test (APT) is available in the BRCC Testing Center. The APT may be taken twice a month.

• Register here (login required) for free access to self-study information and test information.
• BIO 141 (Anatomy and Physiology I) has a prerequisite before enrolling in the course.
  • You will need to either pass an Anatomy Placement Test (APT) with a 70% or earn a “P” in NAS 2 or earn a “C” or higher in BIO 101.
  • If you have already taken BIO 141 and earned “C“ or higher and wish to retake the course, you do not need to take the APT.
  • Students who do not wish to test may choose to enroll directly into NAS 2 or BIO 101 instead of taking the APT.

Kaplan Nursing Admissions Test

Students must set up a Kaplan account in advance of testing.

• Go to Kaplan’s BRCC page
• Follow the enrollment steps to register your account using your @email.vccs.edu address.
• The Kaplan Nursing Admissions test may be taken once in an application year.
• It is advised to take the exam once you have completed most/all of BIO 142.
• You do not need an appointment to take the Kaplan Nursing Admissions test during normal Testing Center hours.
• You will need your Kaplan log-in information and password in order to test. You will also need a photo id.

Please arrive at least 3 hours before close to allow adequate time for Kaplan registration and testing.
