Purpose Statement
The Veterinary Technology Program at Blue Ridge Community College is dedicated to providing an effective base of knowledge to students by teaching information, skills and techniques that will prepare them for successful completion of the Veterinary Technician National Exam and support a lifelong commitment to learning and participation in the ever-changing profession of veterinary technology.
Veterinary Technology Careers
Graduates are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination and become a Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
Admission Requirements
Vet Tech is a competitive program with a separate program admission process in addition to BRCC general admissions. Campus and distance program admission requirements vary.
Program Options
On-Campus Veterinary Technology Program
The on-campus program is a full-time, 2-year program, with a summer academic start.
Distance Education Veterinary Technology Program
The distance education program is for Virginia residents currently working a minimum of 20 hours/week in veterinary practices and unable to relocate to complete the on-campus program.

Facilities
The vet tech program has two laboratories, a treatment area, surgery, radiology suite, and both a small and large animal facility.
Equipment
State of the art digital radiology, ultrasound, surgical laser, therapy laser, dental units, multi-parameter anesthetic monitors, ventilator and blood analyzers.
Licensing Exams
Graduates of the A.A.S. programs are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE).

Program Accreditation
BRCC’s Veterinary Technology on-campus and distance education programs are accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association.
BRCC has not determined if the Veterinary Technology program meets the requirements of any other states.
