Purpose Statement

The Veterinary Technology Program at Blue Ridge Community College is dedicated to providing an effective base of knowledge to students by teaching information, skills and techniques that will prepare them for successful completion of the Veterinary Technician National Exam and support a lifelong commitment to learning and participation in the ever-changing profession of veterinary technology.

Admission Requirements

Veterinary Technology is a competitive program with a separate program admission process in addition to BRCC general admissions.

Program Delivery Options

On-Campus Option

On-campus is a full-time, 2-year program, with a summer academic start.

Distance Education Option

Distance education is a distributive delivery model. It is a part-time, 3-year program, with a summer academic start. Students are required to be engaged in a 3-year clinical preceptorship for the duration of the program.

Program Accreditation

BRCC’s Veterinary Technology Program is accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association.

BRCC has not determined if the Veterinary Technology program meets the requirements of any other states

Licensing Exam Performance

Graduates of the A.A.S. program are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Examination (VTNE).
