Service
The BRCC Student Ambassadors is a service organization that works with various departments to promote the image of the college and maintain relationships with former, current, and future students. The Ambassadors assist with campus and community events including commencement campus tours, alumni events, and more.
The organization also serves to develop leadership abilities, to cultivate friendship, and to encourage participation in college-sponsored activities and community services projects.
Ambassadors must maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average and be enrolled in at least 6 credits during the fall and spring semester. Ambassadors’ class and work schedules must be flexible enough to allow them to regularly attend meetings, to routinely give campus tours as needed, and to participate in events and the planning of those events. A sample schedule with time commitment can be found below.
Ambassadors who complete consecutive fall and spring semesters in good standing are eligible to serve an additional fall and spring semester.
Scholarship
Ambassadors is a scholarship organization.
This scholarship covers in-state tuition and fees. The estimated value of the scholarship is $5,000 and covers one academic year (fall and spring).
This scholarship may be awarded to eligible students even if tuition is already paid by other types of financial aid, and any amount exceeding the amount of tuition and fees may be used for qualifying educational expenses such as books, supplies, housing, food, utilities, and transportation.
The scholarship recipient must be enrolled for at least six (6) hours per semester.
The scholarship is not transferable to another person.
If the recipient fails to perform any of the requirements of this contract, the scholarship may be cancelled.
Applicants must submit the following to be considered:
- An essay discussing an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a personal growth and a new understanding of yourself and others,
- A resume that demonstrates school and community involvement, and
- Two letters of recommendation (at least 1 of them from a teacher/counselor).
Finalists will be interviewed by a panel to select the recipients. Final recipients will be required to sign a participation agreement (PDF) and a scholarship contract in order to accept the award.
