Federal Work-Study

Spring semester 2026: Federal Work-Study (FWS) is currently not hiring due to having spent the work study allocation for this fiscal year. Please check back in Fall of 2026. If positions are re-opened again, notification will be in your SIS message center or VCCS email.

Federal Work Study (FWS) provides employment opportunities, both on and off campus, to eligible students to help meet the costs of post-secondary education. Eligible students are awarded an allotment, which they can earn by working in part-time positions that can be arranged around class schedules. Students must register for at least 6 credits in each semester they have FWS and maintain a 2.0 GPA or higher.

How to Apply

  1. Complete and submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the applicable academic year.
  2. Complete the Work-Study Student Employment Application (Microsoft form) and submit your completed application to the Financial Aid Office.
  3. If notified you are eligible, search for Work-Study Jobs (Google site – login required). (Log into your VCCS email account before clicking).
