Using SIS to Find Your BRCC Financial Information

Logging in to SIS

To log in to SIS, navigate to br.my.vccs.edu:

Enter your username, click GO

Enter your password, click GO

If this is the first time you are logging in, you will need to set up MFA (multi-factor authorization)

On the Applications page, click the SIS Tile.

SIS Dashboard

Profile:

This block shows your college (If BRCC is not shown here, click “Update Info” to switch colleges). Below it, you will see your EmplID (a.k.a. “student ID number”) and your MyVCCS Username.

Class Enrollment and Academic Records and Progress:

These boxes below your profile provide a variety of information about your schedule, grades, major, degree progress and other items.

Action Items & Messages

This box contains a link to items that require your attention. Whenever the Financial Aid Office needs something from you, there will generally be an item placed on your To Do List or a Message with instructions.

Be sure that you always review both the To Do List and the Messages.

Clicking “To Do Items” will take you to the Tasks page. From there, click “To Do List” on the left. This will show you a list of items required.

When you click an item on the To Do List, a page with the details of the required item will display. The page will include the name of the item, the relevant Financial Aid Year, a description of what is required, as well as instructions on how to submit the item to the financial aid office.

Message Center

In the Action Items & Messages box, when you click “Messages” you will be taken into the Tasks page. When you click “Message Center” on the left you will be taken into your SIS Message Center Inbox, which contains any secure messages BRCC has sent you.

Tuition & Payments

This block gives information about your tuition and other billed charges, any remaining balance you must pay, and other important items.

The “Pay My Bill” button connects you to Nelnet, our third party servicer who processes payments. This is not necessary if your financial aid covers your tuition.

When you click Account Details you will see the “What I Owe” page.

Always click the bar that says “CLICK HERE to see Pending FA based on Actual Enrollment” just below the summary. After clicking the bar, the amount shown in the “Total Due” column is what you owe.

If your Pending Financial Aid is more than the amount in the Charges & Payments column, your Total Due will be $0, and you will not be required to make any payments for that semester.

If your Pending Financial Aid is LESS than the amount in the Charges & Payments column, your Total Due will show how much you owe after your financial aid has been applied and will be due by the semester payment deadline.

Financial Aid

The Financial Aid box shows your overall status, and links to a variety of financial aid information when you click the box.

When you open the page, you will see the Award Summary, which defaults to the full-year award information.

If you change “Summary” to one of the semesters listed in the drop down box, you will see the information for the specific semester you have chosen. If you click the name of any award, you will see a description of the award.

Note that the financial aid awards displayed on the Award Summary pages are based on full-time enrollment, and may be reduced if you enroll part time.

College Financing Plan

The College Financing Plan (CFP) puts aid information into a standardized format. All US Colleges and Universities will have the CFP available to you so you can compare aid awards.

Financial Aid Summary

The Financial Aid Summary section includes the Need Summary, Cost of Attendance Estimate, and Student Aid Index pages, all of which contain various information related to how we calculate your financial aid eligibility.

Aid Summary: Classic View

The Aid Summary: Classic View is available for students more comfortable reviewing Financial Aid in SIS in the way it was displayed prior to the most recent upgrade. Note: This functionality will be removed at some point.

Course Eligibility

The Course Eligibility section of the page shows whether your courses are eligible to be paid for with financial aid.

Courses marked with a green check are eligible to be paid with financial aid.

Courses marked with a red “X” are not eligible to be paid for by financial aid. This is usually because either the course does not meet a requirement for the degree or certificate you are pursuing, or that you have repeated the course the maximum number of times you are allowed to with financial aid.

If you click the class that shows it is not eligible, you will receive a pop up with an explanation of the reason. If you receive notice that one or more course is ineligible for aid, we highly recommend seeing your academic advisor.

Manage Refunds

The Manage Refunds section of the page takes you to the website for Nelnet, where you can make payments, sign up for a payment plan, and sign up to receive any refunds by direct deposit.

The bottom link takes you to The Federal Student Aid website, where you can access the FAFSA, complete loan documents, review your financial aid history, and many other items.

Other Resources

The final two boxes on the page take you to external pages where you can review additional information and take actions that are not directly related to Financial Aid.

The Navigate block connects you to a separate software program where you can schedule appointments, plan your degree, and other enrollment-related tasks.

The Resources block connects you to a variety of forms as well as a video walk through of navigating SIS as well as more detailed explanations of some of the blocks.
