Is not the fact that the glass packaging can be thrown away surely
the mark of the golden age?-Jean Baudrillard (Selected Works)
This body of artwork formally relates to objects in nature yet is made from human-made products that have been cast off. I collect observations, information, and interesting trash. For guidance in the assimilation of these three components, turned to raw, uncut minerals. Crushed, broken, cut, torn, dissected, or otherwise altered factory-produced materials are reassembled in visually and tactilely seductive ways. The glittering surfaces, alluring from a distance, reveal their true identity to the careful observer.

Artist's Statement:
I gather information for my paintings from personal experiences, the environment, and places that reopen my eyes. I am captivated by light dancing on water, the last glow of twilight clinging to the horizon's edge, and color. The movements of my brush on canvas imitate the dance of sunlight sparkling between willow whips on a breezy day. I create impressions of the places, real and hybrid, where I want to be and invite viewers to join me there.
Materiality is always in question as I explore the potential of materials to become "paint". Pulling substances such as used coffee grounds and smashed windshields from the waste stream and re-appropriating them as drawing, painting, sculpting mediums is an integral part of the process and content of my artwork. Sinking my hands into the textural wonder of it all I explore the potential for materials to be transformed into their most alluring form.
