This course prepares students for the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Learn to perform basic medical office clinical responsibilities. Topics include:

  • Phlebotomy
  • Pharmacology
  • Medication administration
  • Vital signs
  • EKG
  • Workplace behavior and more.

This is also the beginning clinical class in the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification program.

Admission Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED within 12 months of the course end date
  • Have access to a computer with the ability to use it at an adequate level for creation, communication and collaboration (Computers available for use  in computer labs at BRCC main campus and Waynesboro outpost)
  • Follow the directions in the Medical Assistant Application Packet  regarding registration document submission and registration for the required healthcare orientation.

Required Class

Fundamentals of Medical Assisting

This is the first clinical class in the CCMA and RMA program (Registered Medical Assistant) that trains students to perform basic clinical responsibilities in a medical office. Topics include phlebotomy, pharmacology, medication administration, vital signs, EKG, workplace behavior and more. 

Required Healthcare Orientation - Free

Healthcare Orientation Registration(required)

Orientation must be completed prior to the first day of class.
