Blue Ridge Pass Program

Purpose

The Blue Ridge Pass Program was created by Blue Ridge Community College to encourage students to become active engaged citizens both on campus and in their communities. Through Blue Ridge Pass,  students learn about organizations, resources, and events in their communities, helping to build networks for their future and contribute to the College and community at the same time. Additionally these students strengthen their resumes and portfolios through service and volunteerism, participation, as well as award recognition.

How it Works

Attend Blue Ridge Pass Events

Blue Ridge Pass eligible events are advertised on campus and through the monthly student activity and announcement email.

Scan Event QR Codes

Scan the QR Code to earn participation points for attending Blue Ridge Pass eligible events. If don’t see the code, ask for it! Once you scan the code, enter your user name and password to log in, and then complete the form for the event.  You’ll need to use your VCCS/BRCC email (the same information you use to log into campus email or your SIS account)

Earn Points

Participating in a Blue Ridge Pass event: 1 point

Leading or helping plan a Blue Ridge Pass event: 5 points

Help out the BRCC and Local Community

You can earn points by volunteering in the community or at BRCC. You can also earn points by completing internships and externships through BRCC programs!

Short-term internship (15 hours or fewer a semester): 10 points

Long-term internship (more than 15 hours a semester): 15 points

Medallions

Earn a medallion to wear for graduation and demonstrate your gold or silver status! Points accumulate throughout your entire time at BRCC.

  • Earn 25 points to receive a Silver Medallion.
  • Earn 50 points to receive a Gold Medallion.

Apply For Your Award

A month before you graduate (in November or in April), email Jason Barr at barrj@brcc.edu.

In the email, please provide:

  • your name,
  • VCCS email address, and
  • whether you are applying for a silver medallion, a gold medallion, or both.

Letter of Recognition

Students who achieve silver or gold status through the Blue Ridge Pass Program will also receive a letter signed by Dr. John Downey, the President of Blue Ridge Community College. This is a great addition to your resume or portfolio.
