Meet Our New Foundation Board Members

We are excited to welcome our newest BRCC Educational Foundation Board members: Eric Bond, Safiya Jarvis, and Troy Suter. We look forward to a dynamic and impactful year ahead!

Eric Bond

Eric Bond

Eric Bond is a resident of Augusta County and the retired Superintendent of Augusta County Public Schools, where he served for more than 11 years. Over the course of his career in education, he held a variety of leadership roles, including teacher and coach, athletic director, assistant principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent. Eric earned his bachelor’s degree from James Madison University, a master’s degree from the University of Virginia, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies from Virginia Tech. He remains actively engaged in the community through service on the boards of the Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge; Valley Career and Technical Center Foundation; Boys & Girls Club of Staunton, Augusta County, and Waynesboro; GO Virginia Region 8 Council; and Habitat for Humanity of Staunton, Augusta County, and Waynesboro. In his personal time, Eric enjoys spending time with his wife, Alyson, their two children, Morgan (son-in-law Connor) and Drew, traveling, and playing an occasional round of golf.

Safiya Jarvis

Safiya Jarvis is a First Vice President and Regional Trust Officer for City National Bank in Staunton.  She graduated from the University of South Dakota with a degree in Business Administration.  She then received her law degree from the University of Nebraska College of Law.  She has worked in Trust and Wealth Management in Staunton for over 27 years.  Safiya has served on several boards in Staunton and Waynesboro, and is a current member of the Waynesboro Rotary Club.  She lives in Augusta County with her husband, Kevin, and their three children, Cy, Sam, and Katie. 

Troy Suter

Troy Suter is President and CEO of LD&B Insurance and Financial Services in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where he has served since 2019. With more than 30 years of insurance industry experience, Troy previously founded and owned Covenant Insurance Service and held leadership positions with Shomo & Lineweaver Insurance and Prudential Reinsurance Company. A graduate of James Madison University, Troy earned degrees in Economics and English and holds both the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) professional designations. He is actively involved in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia, where he was Board Chair for 2025–2026. Over the years, he has contributed to numerous local nonprofit organizations, including the Boys & Girls Club of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, AVA Care of Harrisonburg, and Board Chair of the Shenandoah Valley Partnership Foundation. He is a member of the Harrisonburg-Massanutten Rotary Club.
