What do writing tutors do?

Are you still brainstorming or working on your pre-writing? Maybe you have a rough draft written, or are almost ready to turn in your final essay. Your writing tutors are prepared to assist you with all stages of the the writing process (including citations)! Hoping to see someone, but don’t have an appointment set up? You can drop by the library anytime to see if a tutor is available!

Please note, tutors do not provide assignment feedback via email; please schedule an appointment in EAB Navigate or drop by tutoring to discuss coursework.

Tutors provide feedback in person or Zoom – NOT in email. Tutors help with all stages of the writing process including citation – they don’t do the thinking or writing for you. Tutors take meetings through Navigate or on a drop-in basis.

Tutoring Behavioral Standards

Our goal is for the tutoring service to be a positive experience for everyone involved. The following conduct requirements are expected to be followed:

  1. Tutors and tutees are expected to treat each other with kindness, respect, and grace;
  2. A tutoring session may be ended by either the tutor or tutee if they feel uncomfortable, and they are encouraged to share their experience with the Tutoring Coordinator;
  3. Tutors and tutees are expected to comply with BRCC academic expectations and the honor code, including academic honesty;
  4. The Tutoring Coordinator may be contacted with any questions and concerns about conduct.
