BRCC Raises Hunger Awareness With Week of Activities

Blue Ridge Community College (BRCC) and the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB) are partnering once again to raise the profile of hunger, both locally and abroad.

The 19th Annual Virginia Hunger Symposium is designed not only to raise awareness, but to work toward solutions for a problem that plagues local communities, the nation and the world. Every $1 donated during the Virginia Hunger Symposium helps provide more than 3 meals.

All proceeds benefit the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB).

Lecture: Feeding America’s Potential- The Fight Against Hunger and Malnutrition

Speaker: Dr. Casey Kerrigan, Physiatrist

Lecture: The Paradox of Prosperity-Why Economic Growth Isn’t Feeding Everyone

Oct. 22, 11 a.m. – 12:15 p.m., S109

Speaker: Les Sinclair, Communications Manager of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank

Empty Bowl Dinner – Fundraiser

Oct. 23, 6 p.m., Plecker 126

The Empty Bowl Dinner raises funds and awareness for the VA Hunger Symposium. $20 minimum donation includes soup & beverages.
