Lockdown Procedures
Note: During a lockdown do NOT respond to a fire alarm
Upon notification that “LOCK DOWN” procedures should be implemented:
- Close and lock all classroom/office doors. The door should be barred closed with furniture or anything available.
- Close all window blinds.
- Turn off classroom/office lights.
- Go to the wall out of line of sight of the door, prepare to be quiet or respond as necessary.
- Turn off/silence all cell phones, smartphones, pagers etc.
- Remain calm and silent sitting low to the floor.
- Do not respond to knocks on the door or requests by anyone to open the door (Law Enforcement will have keys.)
- Respond immediately and completely to all requests/commands made by law enforcement as they enter the room.
- Follow all instructions that are given by law enforcement completely and as quickly as possible.
