Nurse Aides provide care for residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, private homes, and hospital settings.

Graduating students are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam required by the Virginia Board of Nursing. This course meets the Virginia Board of Nursing’s requirement for Nurse Aide Training.

About the Program

The program consists of classroom, skills lab, and 40 hours of clinical training.  Includes CPR and First Aid for the Healthcare Provider.

Orientation must be completed prior to the first day of class.

Admission Requirements

  • Have access to a computer with the ability to use it at an adequate level for creation, communication and collaboration (Computers available for use in computer labs at BRCC main campus and Waynesboro outpost)
  • Follow the directions in the Nurse Aide Application Packet regarding registration document submission and registration for the required healthcare orientation.

Required Documentation for Clinical Experience

Documentation required by clinical facilities. You must complete all documentation and submit to your instructor within two weeks of class start date, or you may be dismissed from the course WITH NO REFUND.  Each student is responsible for costs associated with obtaining documentation.

  • Current, Clear Background Check through Castlebranch
  • Current CPR card (CPR included in course)
  • Malpractice Liability Insurance
  • Completed Health Insurance/Emergency Contact/Declination Form
  • Current Healthcare Physical and Immunization records including COVID and Flu Vaccines and TB Test (2 Step)
