New Directors Emeriti Celebrated at BRCC

Two long-time friends of Blue Ridge Community College were recognized by the BRCC Educational Foundation with Director Emeritus designations last week.

Debra Stiles Callison served four terms for a total of twelve years on the Foundation Board. During her board tenure, she was a member of the Finance Committee, of which she served as chair for five years. She was also Chair of the Foundation Board for two years, and helped in the Foundation’s review of auditing firms and investment managers. Ms. Callison actively participated in two campaigns, including a role on the Campaign Leadership Committee of the “Student Focus. Community Impact. Campaign for Blue Ridge Community College.”

Ms. Callison has been with First Citizens Bank since 2001 and has served as SVP-Area Executive there since 2010. She received a B.S. from Virginia Tech. Debbie and her husband, Jimmy, have one daughter and reside in Staunton.

Travis J. “Ty” Tysinger served two terms for a total of six years on the Foundation Board. He was a member of the Development committee, and chaired that committee for three years. He was also an Executive Committee member, and served on the Campaign Leadership Committee of the “Student Focus. Community Impact. Campaign for Blue Ridge Community College”

Mr. Tysinger retired from Woodberry Forest School, where he served as Senior Development Officer from 1994-2012. Prior to that, he was Associate Headmaster at Stuart Hall School from 1984-1994. He received a B.A. from Hampden-Sydney College and a M.Ed. from the University of Virginia. Ty and his wife, Dottie, have two grown sons and reside in Staunton.
