Workshops

Arduino Devices & Programming

From turning on a light to building a banana piano, the world of Arduino electronics is highly interactive. What can you do with a tiny computer, some wires, and sensors? Learn to write a program and control the world - at least a little piece of it!

Building a Computer

Using all the parts of a computer system and the basic concepts of a Windows-based operating system (OS), you’ll build a computer system and receive an introduction to the OS installation procedure. By the end of class, you’ll be able to describe the basic functions of all the computer’s parts including CPU, mainboard, etc.

Lego Robots that Change the World

Learn about the science and technology involved in making and controlling robots. See how electronics and automation are changing our world every day. Students work with Lego Mindstorms to show the mechanical and electrical assembly, and then the computer control of a simple robotic device.

The Digital Darkroom

Are you interested in photography and computers? Do you want to see how a "real" camera works? Do you have an interest in creating digital art or want to pursue a career in graphic design? Here is your chance to work with Adobe software to create a piece of digital art you can take home.

Sparking Your Car Knowledge

An electrical morning in the BRCC Automotive Lab. Explore the world of Automotive Technology. You will create a device to take home and share your knowledge & skills with your friends and family.

Hands-on activities include collecting latent fingerprints using black powder, locating and recovering tool mark impressions. Using the details of actual police cases, the workshop culminates with a mock crime scene investigation where you’ll work in teams to present your results.

Pottery 101

Explore the wondrous world of clay and learn about art-related jobs in this hands-on workshop in the ceramics studio. You'll make functional objects using slabs and extrusions and then decorate them while learning about careers in the arts.
