Completing an associate's degree, certificate, or career studies certificate is an exciting milestone in your educational career. Follow the steps below to ensure you have all the information you need.

Apply for Graduation

1. Run your degree progress report in SIS to make sure you have satisfied all requirements for your program of study. Please contact an Academic Advisor with any questions.

2. Transfer credits from other schools attended (if applicable)

3. Apply for Graduation. You must apply for graduation before the published deadlines. If you missed your deadline, please contact Graduation@brcc.edu for assistance.

-Spring Graduation: April 15
-Summer Graduation: July 15
-Fall Graduation: November 15

4. Fulfill obligations to BRCC. Outstanding bills, library books and supplies may cause a hold to be placed on your account. Contact BRCC Financials at BRCCFinancials@brcc.edu for help.

5. Complete the Graduation Assessment. If you’ve applied for graduation with an associate’s degree, you’ll need to take a proctored and timed general assessment during your last semester.  Watch for an Email listing the available times. Failure to complete this requirement could incur an Account Hold which will prevent official transcripts being sent.  Contact Graduation@brcc.edu with any questions.

Final Transcripts

Your degree, including major and any specialization, will be added to your permanent record and will appear on your transcript after final grades have posted at the end of the semester. Records will be updated as soon as possible and could take up to four weeks. Students will be contacted via their college email after all records have been updated. Then, you may request your official transcript and it will include your completed program. Students who have not fulfilled their obligations to BRCC mentioned above or taken the general assessment, will have a hold placed on their record preventing transcripts being sent.

Diplomas

Diplomas are not given to students at the Graduation Ceremony. Diplomas listing your major will be mailed via USPS to the address entered on your graduation application. Address changes should be emailed to Graduation@brcc.edu. Diploma orders are sent to Paradigm for processing six weeks after your final semester has ended. Paradigm will then ship diplomas to students via USPS within 10 business days of receiving the order from BRCC. Students will be contacted by Paradigm via their student email account once the diploma has been shipped. Students earning more than one award can expect to receive multiple packages. Please give USPS 4-6 weeks to process your shipment. If you do not receive your diploma in the mail, contact Graduation@brcc.edu so we can submit a reorder that will be included with the next semester’s graduation.

Commencement

Graduation Ceremonies (Commencement) are held once a year in May to honor graduates who have completed a degree, certificate, or career studies certificate within the academic year.  The academic year includes previous summer, previous fall, and spring. Students who have fewer than six (6) credit hours remaining in their program and anticipate completing those requirements in the following summer semester are eligible to participate in the ceremony. Contact Graduation@brcc.edu before the April 15 deadline to be considered.
