Hoonuit

Unlimited access to online step-by-step training tutorials in over 250 applications, as well as workshops in Being an Effective Online Student, Research Paper Basics, Completing a FAFSA, Effective Online Discussions, and more. You can access hoonuit through MyBRCC.

Textbooks

Bookstore – Order your textbooks online or purchase them at the BRCC Bookstore on the Weyers Cave campus.

Library Distance Learning Support Services

Library Online Orientation – Tutorial to help you navigate in the library and use the search tools and databases. It also contains documents that cover a variety of methods used for accessing information in the library and on the web.

Library’s Remote Access Instructions – Currently enrolled students and employees can access the Houff Library databases from off-campus through the MY BRCC Portal. If you are a new user, click on the link and follow the instructions.

Librarian – E-Mail a BRCC Librarian is designed to answer short, factual questions for those BRCC students, faculty, and staff unable to come to the Library.

LRCLive – A 24/7 chat reference service for Virginia’s community college students. When you need assistance, LRCLive connects you to a Librarian for help with library services and online research.

Web Applications

MYBRCC – is a single sign-on system to access the following:

  • Blackboard – a course management system used by many instructors for course materials and instruction
  • SIS (Student Information System) – used for registration, tuition payment, viewing grades and other academic information.
  • GMAIL -Virginia Community College System’s email system that you will use to communicate with your instructor.

Tutoring

Peer Tutoring – In-person tutoring by fellow BRCC students who have taken the same classes they are tutoring and have shown particular skill in these subjects

SmartThinking – Enrolled students receive four hours per academic year of free online tutoring in a variety of subjects, including all math classes, accounting, chemistry, physics, anatomy and physiology, economics, as well as a writing center. You can access SmartThinking through your courses in Blackboard.

Student Services

Testing Center – Administers proctored testing on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis.
