WoMEN'S RESOURCE CENTER
Women in
Transition
Change can be frightening. But change
can also be a wonderful opportunity for growth. The choice is yours.
Changes, even the good ones, aren't always easy. That's where the
Women's Resource Center at Blue Ridge Community College can help, by
providing a framework for exploring options and making informed
decisions to improve your life.
What the Women's Resource Center Can Do for You
Workshops, referral services and a
growing resource library (click to go the
annotated bibliography) form the backbone of the
Women's Resource Center's effort to help you open doors to greater
personal and professional development.
Through the
Center:
- Unemployed or underemployed women
can learn to tap existing community service agencies.
- Women re-entering the workforce
can learn to market their experience or discover affordable
education options for updating job skills. Employed women can
enhance their current careers through training, or assess
personal and professional skills in preparation for career
change.
- Women can learn to better balance
the demands of family and career, by using practical information
on day care choices, parenting skills, conflict resolution, time
and stress management, as well as other topics.
- Women can learn to establish and
maintain sound personal and family financial plans for greater
economic stability, both now and in the future.
Who Can
Participate?
The Women's Resource Center is open
to all women. Center programs support the special roles of women in
society, from co-workers, managers and volunteers in the workplace,
to single parents, spouses, mothers, and daughters in the family
setting. And, while the Center focuses on the needs of women, men
are welcome to attend programs of mutual interest.
We're in this
Together
As a woman, you respond to change as
you move through the different stages of your life. The Women's
Resource Center can change, too, by designing programs that more
accurately reflect your needs. Your input is vital as the Center
provides opportunities for women to explore life transitions as
avenues for positive change.
You Can Help
Tax-deductible donations to the
Women's Resource Center are accepted through the
BRCC Educational
Foundation, Inc. Your contribution of $25 will provide a magazine
subscription or book for the Resource Library. A gift of $50 covers
child care costs while an unemployed woman gets job skills training.
Your $100 gift can support life skills planning workshops or other
seminars.
