General Information

Usage Guidelines Board Room

We encourage use of the Plecker Center by outside groups including businesses, professional and community organizations, and private groups. Use of the Center should support instructional and community service-based activities that help make higher education more accessible and/or support business and industry partnerships for economic development.

Catering

Our friendly staff will be happy to coordinate catering services for your event or provide information on local catering companies.  A conference room is equipped with a refrigerator, microwave, and setup facilities.

After holding the 2005 Woodrow Wilson Forum at the Plecker Center, Director of Education for the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library, thanked us for the "wonderful support", stating, "...another reason for the success ... was the attentive and professional service provided by you and your staff...We hope to hold future events at the Plecker Center"

Tim Thompson, of General Motors commented, "With your convenient location and friendly atmosphere, the community college has been a great place for us to conduct our Dealer Advisory Board Meetings."

Lodging

A number of hotels are located in nearby Harrisonburg and Staunton. Information is available upon request.

Area Attractions

The local area is rich in history, natural beauty, and other attractions. Staunton, to the south, boasts the Blackfriars Playhouse, Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library at his Birthplace, the Museum of American Frontier Culture, Downtown Historic Area, the Statler Brothers' Gift Shop, and Mary Baldwin College.

Harrisonburg, to the north, features the Court Square Theatre, the Virginia Quilt Museum, The Children's Museum, James Madison University and Eastern Mennonite University.

Other area attractions include Shenandoah National Park, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Massanutten Resort, Bridgewater College and various historical attractions including Civil War battlefields.
