Dental Radiation Safety Seminar
This course provides an understanding of the value of x-ray
radiation and how x-rays are produced and used in dentistry.
Students will learn procedures for the correct operation of
dental x-ray equipment, proper exposure principles and
guidelines for film producing. The course emphasizes specific
factors that minimize patient and staff exposure. Federal and
state regulations, the American Dental Association, and the
Virginia Dental Association guidelines for safe and effective
use of x-ray radiation in the dental office will be covered.
Hands-on experience is included and required for each
participant. A written examination will be given. This course
will allow participants to meet the Virginia State Board of
Dentistry requirements for dental assistants to use x-ray
equipment.
