Group Advising & Registration Sessions (GARS)

 

Who Should Attend

Admitted students who are planning to attend BRCC for the first time in Fall 2012.

You must have received an acceptance Email and shown that you are proficient in reading, writing and mathematics by:

Note:  Students planning to take higher level math courses (MTH 166, MTH 173, or higher) are required to take the Virginia Placement Test – VPT for math regardless of SAT/ACT scores.

Who Should Not Attend

  • Students taking classes, but not planning to earn a certificate, diploma, or degree
  • Aviation Maintenance students (Call 540-453-2224 for registration details)
  • Automotive Technology students (Call 540-453-2224 for registration details)

What You Will Do

  • get academic advising
  • learn how to use the Student Information System
  • register for Fall classes

Workshop Registration Information

Registration forms will be available April 1.

Before going to the sign up form, make sure you:

  • know your Student ID (EMPLID) - look it up on MYBRCC.
  • know which program you're interested in - College Catalog.

Cancellation Procedure

Students who sign up for a Group Advising and Registration Session are expected to attend.  A great deal of prep-work goes into planning for the sessions.  If you are unable to attend the session that you registered for, due to an emergency, please contact the Admissions and Records Office at 540-453-2287 to cancel your registration.

No Show Policy

Students who do not show up for a session they have signed up for, without calling to cancel  ahead of time, will be required to wait until after June 25th to meet with an academic advisor to secure fall semester classes.

What to Bring

  1. Student number (EMPLID)
  2. MYBRCC User Name
  3. MYBRCC Password
  4. Official High School transcript (Required for Vet Tech, Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Radiographic Technology, Funeral Services programs)
  5. SAT or ACT scores (if you were exempt from taking the College Preparedness Test and/or Virginia Placement Test – VPT)
  6. Advanced Placement scores from College Board, if applicable and available
  7. College transcripts (if transferring coursework from a non-Virginia Community College)
