College Preparedness Testing
The College expects all students to demonstrate proficiency in reading,
writing, and mathematics.
Preparedness testing is required of students
enrolling in a curriculum or in English or math
classes unless they meet the
exception criteria.
Test Content
The College Preparedness test consists of four
un-timed sections that cover Reading Comprehension, Sentence Skills,
Arithmetic, and Elementary Algebra.
The test is computerized and you will receive a
printed report of your scores at the conclusion of
the test. We strongly recommend that you review
high school level Algebra I and II, algebraic
applications and equations, decimals, and fractions.

Taking the Preparedness Test
The tests are given on a walk-in basis,
during the regularly scheduled semester in the Learning
Assistance Center:
- Monday—Thursday, 9 AM-6PM
- Friday, 9 AM-1 PM.
It is a good idea to allow at least two hours to complete the entire
test. You must bring a photo I.D. with your social
security number on it on the day of your test. Calculators and
other aides are provided.
If you have a disability or temporary
disabling condition that will prevent you from taking the test under
standard conditions, contact the Coordinator of Disability Services at
extension 2252.
Testing is NOT required of students who can submit:
- Transcripts showing
proof of successful completion of
developmental or college-level English or math
classes (grade of at least a 'C')
OR
- SAT scores of at least 530/Critical Thinking,
530/Writing and
520/Math OR ACT scores of 22/Verbal and 22/Quantitative.
College transcripts or test scores must be sent to
Academic Support Services before registering for courses in English
or math.
