Virginia21
What is Virginia21?
- We are an action-tank involving young people from across the Commonwealth in the political process by providing information, directing advocacy and coordinating political action on a non-partisan issue agenda.
- Virginia21 informs and motivates young voters to participate in the political process because issues of public policy and politics affect us directly.
How it got started
Virginia21 was started by a group of 4 students meeting together in a coffee house and has quickly grown into a first in the country generational advocacy group for students. With over 50,000 members and over 45 chapters at colleges and universities across the state, Virginia21 has become a force across Virginia advocating for issues that are important to students.
A Different Kind of Politics
- Virginia21 is a bipartisan organization with a nonpartisan agenda that is developed by VA21’s Student Leadership Committee—a group that consists of the student body presidents and campus coordinators at each of Virginia’s two & four year public colleges and universities.
- Our agenda includes issues that have broad-based interest and support: strengthening education, improving economic opportunities, and ensuring good government.
- Virginia21 works to have grassroots chapters of students at each two & four year public college and university in the state in order to advocate to lawmakers on issues that are important to students.
- Each issue that is considered by Virginia21’s Student Leadership Committee is judged on its own merits without regard for partisan positions on the issue.
