BRCC Student Ambassadors
Program
Mission
Volunteer students will assist with
different on and off campus functions as a visible group of students when
needed, ie: tour guides for prospective BRCC students, assist with providing
information to new students during open registration and the first week of
classes, help to host functions that are open to the public, represent
BRCC on student panels, assist BRCC personnel with college nights that are
hosted by area high schools or community groups, travel with
administrators/staff to off campus meetings/events, talk with groups and
visitors about the BRCC experience, ushers for graduation, and assist with
recruitment of potential students.
Requirements
- Academically oriented with a GPA of 2.5
- Has completed SDV 100 or equivalent orientation
class
- Enrolled full or part time
- Must have been a student on campus for at least one semester
- Member of a BRCC student organization
- Must submit an application that will be reviewed and approved by the
Student Activities Director
Benefits
- Enhancement of leadership skills
- Eligible for any stipends that may be
given by BRCC committees or projects for participating in college
related events or functions
- Representatives to the VCCS Annual Student Leadership Conference
- Eligible to be a candidate for the
"Ambassador's Scholarship" from the SGA, which
include:
- 50% participation in requests that "were
made for ambassador involvement per semester
- Community Service Participation
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better at the end
of the semester(s) being considered
- An ACTIVE member of the SGA with at least
75% attendance for the Fall and Spring
semester
- Attend at least one (1) student leadership conference
- Attend 75% of college workshops sponsored
by Project ATTAIN and "Making Connections"
Lectures.
- Attend 75% of Student Ambassador
Meetings per semester
Each ambassador will be provided a
shirt that states "BRCC Student
Ambassador" with their names on it and
it will be worn whenever the student
is participating in the function as an

Scholarships
Requirement
Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
Criteria to Receive Scholarship Gifts
- Must participate in at least one community
service project
- Must attend at least one leadership
conference
- Must attend 1 Cultural Affairs event each
semester
- Must attend at least 50% of all "Making
Connections" workshops offered throughout the semester(s)
- Must participate in at least 75% of all
Student Ambassador meetings
- Must participate in at least 50% off all
requests that are received by the Student Activities Director
Note: All percentages will be based on the
number of semesters the ambassador serves in this capacity. |
