ADVISING
NOTES PARTICULARLY PERTINENT FOR JMU PSYCHOLOGY MAJORS
Some additional psychology courses may be
accepted as psychology electives (PSYC 000) or as university electives (PSYC
002). PSYC 002 credits will count toward graduation but not toward general
education or the psychology major. Please see the undergraduate psychology
director at JMU for approval of additional psychology electives.
Please note: A JMU course, PSYC 210, is a
prerequisite for JMU's PSYC 211. We recommend that you take PSYC 210 the
summer before your fall enrollment.
According to the JMU undergraduate catalog,
because of course sequencing requirements, a minimum of five semesters (or
four semesters and summer school) is required to complete the degree
requirements for the psychology major.
For students seeking the
B.A. degree in psychology:
According to the 2004-2005 JMU
Undergraduate Catalog, a B.A. degree requires 6-14 credit hours of foreign
language courses at the intermediate level (p.33).
