Telephone: (540) 453-2329 Mission Statement The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at Blue Ridge Community College works collaboratively with all members of the College community to enhance the educational mission of the College as set forth by the Chancellor of the Virginia Community College System and the President of Blue Ridge Community College. The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves to assist all members of the college community with their assessment, program evaluation, and research initiatives. This includes program and educational objective development, the collecting and storing of information, the analysis and reporting of assessment and research information, the evaluation of the quality of assessment and research methods employed on campus, and through providing access to resources and data needed to successfully complete such initiatives. The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness coordinates the assessment and research activities of the campus for compliance with governing and accrediting bodies. Reporting areas include assessment and research in both credit and non-credit programs. The Office of Institutional Research coordinates the College's Graduate Survey and Community College Student Experience Survey. The Office's priority activities are those related to assessing educational outcomes. The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness strives to establish, maintain and model a national standard of excellence for institutional research for community colleges through the use of sound and innovative assessment, measurement and research on campus, as well as through the dissemination of information regarding assessment and research practices. Objectives: 1) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves to assist the President in meeting the presidential goal to monitor and promote institutional effectiveness and maintain accountability through assessment and performance measures by providing internal consultation regarding program and educational outcome measures as demonstrated by the establishment of documented assessment programs for all programs. 2) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves to assist all members of the college community with their assessment and program evaluation endeavors through internal consultation regarding program and educational objective development as demonstrated by the establishment of documented measurable objectives for all programs. 3) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves to assist all members of the college community with their assessment and program evaluation endeavors through the collecting and maintaining of information as demonstrated by an increase in the collection and central storage of student learning outcome data. 4) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves to assist all members of the college community with their assessment and program evaluation endeavors through the analysis of assessment data as demonstrated by the use of appropriate statistical procedures in internal and external reports. 5) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves to assist all members of the college community with their assessment and program evaluation endeavors through the reporting of assessment data as demonstrated by an increase in the number of college personnel writing and presenting internally and externally on assessment related topics. 6)The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves to assist all members of the college community with their assessment and program evaluation endeavors through providing access to resources and data needed to successfully complete such initiatives as demonstrated by increased access to data on-line. 7) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness serves to assist all members of the college community with their research and professional development initiatives through accurate and timely internal consultation as demonstrated by maintaining the current level of scholarly contributions made by BRCC faculty. 8) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness coordinates the assessment and research activities of the campus for compliance with governing and accrediting bodies through the reporting of assessment and research data in credit programs as demonstrated by continued accreditation. 9) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness coordinates the assessment and research activities of the campus for compliance with governing and accrediting bodies through the reporting of assessment and research data in non-credit programs as demonstrated by continued accreditation. 10)The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness coordinates the collection of on-going survey data through the administration of the College's Graduate Survey and the Community College Student Experience Survey as demonstrated by the written documentation of the use of such surveys for program improvement. 11) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness strives to establish, maintain and model a national standard of excellence for institutional effectiveness and research for community colleges through sound and innovative assessment, measurement and research on campus and through the dissemination of information regarding assessment and research practices as demonstrated by participation in the state assessment group. 12) The Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness strives to establish, maintain and model a national standard of excellence for institutional effectiveness and research for community colleges through sound and innovative assessment, measurement and research on campus and through the dissemination of information regarding assessment and research practices as demonstrated by staff participation in AERA, NCME and AAHE. home | visitor | student | library | brcc community Graphics by Cheryl O'Neil - BRCC Webmaster
