Morning Session Schedule

9:30-10:15 a.m. Opening Session (Robert E. Plecker Workforce Center/P126A)

  • Welcome: Dr. John Downey, BRCC President
  • Week of Welcome Overview: Dr. Bob Young, Vice President of Instruction & Student Services
  • Introduction of Campus Resource Representatives: Annette Williams, Dean of Student Services: Bookstore, Financial Aid, Tuition Payment, Disability Services, Tutoring, Peer Mentoring

10:20-11:00 a.m. Concurrent Sessions

  • Helping Your Student Adjust to Life at BRCC--for parents only (P126A), Presenters: Jenny Harvey and Hara Charlier
  • Faculty/Student Panel (Auditorium), Presenter: Susie Shomo & BRCC Students
  • Faculty/Adult Student Panel (for students 24 years and older),  Presenter: Paul Harmon & BRCC Students

11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Complete Orientation Tasks

2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. Complete Orientation Tasks

What You Can Do

  • Take a Campus Tour
  • Attend a Blackboard Training Session (Online and Hybrid Course Delivery)--Learn how to access your Student Information Accounts (11:00 am & 2:00 p.m. —F110)
  • Get Student ID Card (9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.—Houff Center Cafeteria)
  • Pick up parking decal and library card (9:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.—Houff Center Cafeteria)
  • Purchase books at Campus Bookstore (Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m./Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4 :00 p.m.)
  • Pay tuition (8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.—Houff Student Center)
  • Financial Aid staff available for questions (8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m.—Houff Student Center)
  • Visit with area transfer advisors--JMU/MBC/BC/ODU (Transfer Student Center)
  • Visit Study Abroad & Student Leadership Displays (Houff Center Cafeteria)
  • Get Information from Student Clubs and Organizations
  • Food available for purchase in the Cafeteria
