There are as many computer buying guides and best pick lists as there are computers! Even so, purchasing the right computer, software and accessories for what you want to do can be complicated. Beginning with the most important components, you'll quickly move to exploring features you need to help decide whether to upgrade or replace your computer. From tablets and 'pads' to laptops and desktops, this class will make you a better computer buyer. Introduction to Wireless Home Networking NEW

A poorly secured home network makes you the easiest, most profitable target for hackers. According to the Federal Communications Commission, home users are responsible for ALL traffic going through their networks, even if that traffic is unauthorized. Learn the differences in wireless connection equipment, and understand security best practices in software and hardware for the home to secure your wireless from prying eyes, while optimizing signal strength and speed. You don't need to be a techie, but you will need to be comfortable with computers.
