Jump Start Courses
If you want to get a head start on the Beginning Rider Course, but have never driven a motorcycle or used a manual transmission clutch; if you attempted a BRC but were overwhelmed......then Jump Start is for you! Jump Start provides three hours of instruction in a small class setting to focus on initial riding skills (working the clutch, starting/stopping, shifting gears). Motorcycles and helmets are provided. Participants must provide protective clothing (see BRC description). No tests, no completion cards, no pressure. Relax and experience the fun. Beginning Rider Course (BRC)*
The following Virginia Rider Training Program courses are co-sponsored by BRCC Continuing Education and the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.

Learn entry-level skills such as effective turning, braking and obstacle avoidance, plus develop safe street-riding strategies. Successful completion of this course waives the Virginia DMV knowledge exam and road test, with the completion certificate serving as a 30-day motorcycle license, subject to Virginia DMV age requirements. Visit www.dmvnow.com for additional information. Licensing requirements vary; please check with your state of legal residence. Minimum age is 16. If you are under age 19, you must complete the auto driver education classroom portion before taking this class. Written parental permission is required for students under age 18. - Pre-registration is required for all motorcycle courses.
- Participants must be at least 16 years old, eligible to receive a motorcycle license.

- Motorcycle license/learner’s permit is NOT required.
- Motorcycles and helmets are provided.
- Required riding gear (Sat/Sun only): boots/shoes that cover ankle; riding gloves covering entire hand; long pants; long-sleeved shirt/jacket; sunglasses/eyeglasses.

Experienced Rider Course
Learn advanced riding techniques and enhanced key street-riding skills in this vital one-day course. You must hold a valid motorcycle license and provide motorcycle, helmet, and proof of insurance coverage. BRCC Weyers Cave Campus Room D100, $50
