Beginning Karate (rising grades 2-8)
Get some kicks for kids at BRCC! Learn basic karate techniques: blocks, punches and kicks. You’ll also gain an understanding of ancient Japanese culture, and experience other fun activities. Course fee includes karate uniform that you may keep. Please give size information when registering. If your child already owns a karate uniform, the class fee is $129.

Caving Adventures (rising grades 8-12)
This daylong course allows you to experience different types of wild caves. Explore at least three caves (based upon the group’s physical abilities and interests), learning about cave formation, ecology, and preservation. You must have the physical ability to crawl and climb up or down for short distances as well as be comfortable in a cave environment. You will be provided with coveralls and safety equipment. Bring bag lunch and bottled water each day. Course information packets will be sent upon registration.

Fishing Adventure (rising grades 4-6) NEW
Experience spin cast fishing using a variety of artificial lures and baits in this full-day class. Learn casting, lure placements, and knot tying before practicing your new skills doing some bank fishing and wade fishing. On days three and four, we’ll float fish from oar rafts. On Friday, we’ll enjoy a lake trip to fish, relax, paddle kayaks, play on a giant inner-tube, or have fun with water and beach games. You will be provided a basic spin cast rod and several artificial lures and baits for use during the week. No experience is necessary; however, in case you wish to bring your own equipment, lures, and bait; we will send you a strongly suggested equipment list prior to the week of your class. You will be required to bring a small fanny pack that fits around the waist to hold your tackle (no tackle boxes allowed because we will be walking, wading, and moving), and you will be provided and required to wear fishing pfd’s (life jackets) each day to keep you safe on and in the water. You must bring a bag lunch and drinks in plastic screw-top bottles each day. Course information packets will be sent upon registration.

Golf for Beginners (rising grades 7-12)
Bring your own clubs and begin learning the basics of an all-time favorite sport you can play and enjoy for a lifetime. Pick up golf rules, fundamentals, and etiquette through a variety of fun drills. You’ll be amazed at how much you learn about this sport in just one week! On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the class will meet at Heritage Oaks Golf Course in Harrisonburg where students will use the driving range, putting green and practice course. On Friday, the class meets at Sandy Bottom Par Three Course in Bridgewater.

Intro to Outdoor Adventure Sports Sampler (rising grades 4-6) NEW
This less physically demanding daylong outdoor class allows you to experience top-rope rock climbing, caving, creek hiking, a raft float trip, and a lake trip (playing on giant tubes, water and beach games, and a cookout). Each day trip requires only short walks to activity locations, and a beginner level of activity! Enjoy fun first-time experiences based on our popular "Adventure Sports Sampler" for middle schoolers. All safety equipment will be provided for each of these activities including climbing helmets, harnesses, and shoes; caving helmets and coveralls; life jackets and water safety helmets. Bring a bag lunch sealed in a zip-lock bag and drinks in plastic screw-top bottles each day. Course information packets will be sent upon registration.

Outdoor Adventure Sports Sampler (rising grades 7-9)
Enjoy four of today’s most popular outdoor adventure sports in this all-day introductory course: top-rope rock climbing, wild cave exploration, recreational kayaking, and river tubing. Students will participate in all four activities (weather and water levels permitting). On Friday, we’ll take a lake trip to relax, paddle kayaks, have fun playing on a giant inner-tube and in water and beach games. To keep this course fun for repeat participants, each year we select different caves and climbing areas on a three-year cycle. All technical and safety equipment is provided. Bring a bag lunch and drinks in plastic screw-top bottles each day. Course information packets will be sent upon registration.

Each day trip requires only short walks to activity locations, and at the most beginner level of activity! More physically challenging than our normal Water Adventure Weeks, this course involves the following all-day activities (weather and water levels permitting): recreational kayaking; raft float trip on one of the area’s scenic rivers; waterfall hike and swim day; stand-up paddle boarding (NEW THIS YEAR); and on Friday, a lake trip to relax, paddle kayaks, play on a giant inner-tube, or have fun participating in water and beach games. All necessary equipment and personal flotation devices will be provided each day. Bring a bag lunch and drinks in plastic screw-top bottles each day. Water Adventure Fun (rising grades 4-6)
Less physically challenging than an "Adventure Sports Sampler Class," this course is a great introduction to some of the popular water adventure activities in the "sampler" class. You will participate in the following trips (weather and water levels permitting): a 3 to 5 mile raft float trip on one of the area’s mild rivers; waterfall hike and swim day with a short walk to an area waterfall for playing and swimming; river-tubing day of floating in fabric covered tubes down an area river; swimming hole day of old-fashioned playing in the water at one or two area swimming holes; and a lake trip to relax, paddle kayaks, play on a giant inner-tube, or have fun participating in water and beach games. All necessary equipment and personal flotation devices will be provided each day. Bring a bag lunch and drinks in plastic screw-top bottles each day.
