American Sign Language for You (rising grades 5-8) NEW

If you want to talk with your hands, American Sign Language is for you! Learn signs for your family members, colors, favorite animals, foods, greetings, and much more. Discover how sign language may be used in homes, schools, and neighborhoods. You will be able to sign your favorite song or fairy tale. Perhaps you can even start your own sign language club!

Kids America (rising grades 2-4)

Each generation of Americans is unique, with its own styles, fads, attitudes and inventions. In this fun class, learn about things kids have done throughout history that are considered "American." Discover interesting bits of America's past (including superstitions, crafts, games, toys and ideas). During this action-packed week, you’ll make time capsules, butter churns, popcorn balls, candy apples, paper firecrackers, newspaper toys, acorn puppets, berry ink, and autograph verses. We’ll even learn how to whittle!

Let’s Travel the World! (rising grades 2-4) NEW

Explore seven continents in five days! Each day we’ll do fun projects and art activities, using several media, from Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America and South America. Come join us for some worldly fun!

Magic Treehouse (rising grades 2-4) NEW

The Magic Treehouse books are a great way for you to explore history and science. Join Jack and Annie as we jump into our treehouse and go on adventures! We will read four chapter books together, and then we’ll do crafts and activities that relate to those stories. We'll also be building a classroom treehouse and making our own miniature treehouse. Get ready for fun and join us on our missions!

Military History Mysteries (rising grades 6-9) NEW

How could the US Navy lose a heavy cruiser with 1197 sailors aboard during a war? How much larger are military soldiers today than they were during World War II? What special items do soldiers and sailors send home to their moms and girlfriends? What important roles do American women fill in wartime, and when did this change? Have you ever seen a real military vehicle up close? The answers to these questions, your own questions, and much more will be explored and discovered each day by examining real artifacts and items...uniforms, books, keepsakes, war artifacts, and possibly an actual WW2 Army vehicle. This hands-on investigative class includes discussions with military veterans for a first-hand look at war and the military.

Parlez-vous parisien? French Language and Culture (rising grades 4-6) NEW

Let’s get acquainted with historical and cultural sites of Paris while learning numbers, directions and other handy phrases for travel. Fun, activity-based sessions include games, role-playing and videos. Parents, let your child be your tour guide!

See It, Say It, Sing It, Sign It (rising grades K-1)

Do you like to let your imagination run wild? Using familiar stories, you’ll paint props, sing crazy related songs, learn signs and then act out specific parts, all as a fun way to tell the story to your family and friends on Friday! This active, hands-on class is geared toward developing a love for storytelling and literary favorites.

Bring a bag lunch and spend an hour with us in storytime! You will hear a different story each day and even have time for a fun art activity! Children who are attending morning and/or afternoon sessions will be escorted to/from Storytime by LCBF staff.

Teddy bears, trains, insects, and many other interesting topics spring to life through literature, crafts, and many hands-on activities. Books by Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss are featured.

Tom-Toms, Totem Poles and Tepees (rising grades 1-3)

Learn to dye fabric just like early Native Americans did using flowers, berries, seeds and other natural materials … then weave it into a wall-hanging complete with beads and feathers. Help build a totem pole, paint with sand, learn Indian games and songs, and spend time in a real tepee. You’ll do all this and more as we explore an exciting part of our country’s history based on daily life experiences of Native Americans.
