Apply for Financial Aid
When to Apply
The best time to apply for financial aid is during January or February before the academic year you'll attend. For example; if you will be attending BRCC in the fall, you will want to apply by March 15.
March 15th is BRCC’s recommended FAFSA application filing date for awarding aid.
How to Apply
Apply for financial aid by completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the appropriate aid year. You may submit a FAFSA two ways:
- through the Internet by using FAFSA on the Web.
- by mailing a paper FAFSA.
FAFSA on the Web
Go to FAFSA on the Web (U.S. Department of Education) to fill out and submit your FAFSA online. Processing will take one to two weeks.
FAFSA by mail
Print a FAFSA form, or call 1-800-4FED-AID (1-800-433-3243 to request one by mail. Mail to the federal processing center. Processing will take approximately three to four weeks.
Recommended FAFSA Application Filing Date
Applications received by March 15 will be fully considered for all federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Late applications are accepted but funding is not guaranteed.
If your financial situation changes, you may apply for financial aid after the priority date. Institutional assistance will be awarded based on availability of funds.
All other documents requested by the office should also be submitted no later than May 1.
Reapplication Process
Students must reapply for financial aid every year by the recommended FAFSA filing date (March 15th). Eligibility for all financial aid awarded through the Office of Student Financial Aid & Scholarships is reviewed annually. The amount of financial aid may vary from year to year, depending on the student's continued demonstrated financial need and all other eligibility requirements.
