New Courses Prepare Students for Alternative Energy Jobs
BRCC students can now prepare to enter the “green” and alternative energy jobs sector by registering for courses that begin soon. As part of a nine-credit Career Studies Certificate in Alternative Energy, students will learn the basics of Wind Generation, Solar Water Heating, and Solar Electric and other alternative energy systems. Each class is one credit hour.
Grant-funded scholarships are available for students enrolled in this certificate program.
The first course, Wind Generation, begins October 12, 9 a.m. to 12:30. Others in the series start November 9 and December 12.
Non-credit courses are available as well in emerging green technologies through the Office of Workforce Services and Continuing Education. These classes are for the contractor who wants to add to existing skills, services, and capabilities; the individual looking for certification in Energy Auditing and Weatherization; and anyone interested in careers in green technology.
Classes are: Energy Auditor Field Training running November 8 to 11 and Air Sealer/Installer Certification Training running October 25 to 28 and again December 6 to 9. There are scholarships available for these courses as well.
