Artist-In-Residence

Sukjin Choi, will be Artist-in-Residence at BRCC demonstrating the production of ceramic pots on March 29 and 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the cafeteria.

About the Artist

Sukjin Choi was born in Korea and received BFA and MFA degrees in Ceramics from Ewha Womans University in Seoul, Korea, and studied Ceramics with Tony Hepburn at Cranbrook Academy of Art, in the United States, receiving an MFA degree there.  She has had numerous solo exhibitions throughout the United States and Korea and participated in over one hundred fifty group exhibitions in many countries. Her work has been included in important group shows such as “Tradition Transformed; Contemporary Korean Ceramics,” traveling for three years throughout Europe and “'From the Fire' A Survey of Contemporary Korean Ceramics,” a show traveling for five years throughout the US. She is also a prolific commentator on the field of Ceramics, publishing over ninety articles for the Korea Times in Washington DC and the Monthly Ceramic Art in Seoul, Korea. She now resides in Virginia as an Assistant Professor of Art at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
