Instructor/Assistant Professor/Associate Professor of Veterinary Technology

Blue Ridge Community College is seeking a dynamic faculty member for the discipline of Veterinary Technology. Responsibilities include quality teaching (by distance learning and/or traditional delivery) and student assessment, performing small animal surgery, providing veterinary care to program animals, supervising students in labs and clinics, advising students, recruiting students, and participating in institutional service.

Required qualifications include a DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college, current active veterinary licensure, eligibility for licensure as a veterinarian in Virginia (if currently licensed elsewhere), 3 years of recent clinical experience, strong small animal medical and surgical skills, a commitment to applications of instructional technology, and a commitment to the community college environment and mission.  Preferred qualifications include previous community college (or university) teaching experience, experience working with large animals, or experience working with exotic animals/wildlife.

Position is classified as full-time, 9-month, 24-pay teaching faculty; includes full state benefits.  Depending on credentials and experience, position may be filled as Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Associate Professor ($41,263 - $71,506).  In addition to teaching 30 credits per academic year, responsibilities include academic advising; service & leadership on college committees; participation in scholarly and professional activities; mentoring adjunct faculty within the discipline; development and support of courses and programs; community service; and institutional service.
