Academic Counselor


Position will provide academic advising, academic support, and enrollment services to students.  Will advise students on college curricula, admissions procedures, college services, & career opportunities.  Reviews high school records & test scores; interprets college placement test scores, explores initial career interests, and places students in curriculum. Advises students on course selection & assists them in completing the registration process, including course changes. Assists in planning, coordinating, organizing, and evaluating orientation and student services programs of the College.  Participates in high school and adult outreach programs as requested. 

Requires outstanding verbal, written, and customer service skills.  Prefer experience in academic advising; community college/higher education experience; and master’s degree in related field.  Full-time classified, 12-month position with full state benefits.  Education Support Specialist III (Pay Band 4);  Anticipated starting salary range is $32,000-$50,000.  Depending on qualifications and experience, position may be filled as Education Support Specialist II (Pay Band 3).
