Special Events
Annually, the BRCC Educational Foundation hosts the
Spring Fling Auction. Proceeds from a silent and live auction are used to
support many Blue Ridge Community College projects not already funded by
traditional sources. Due to the generosity of supporters, the Educational
Foundation is able to provide
student
scholarships, needed technological enhancements, faculty grants, and
program support for many worthwhile
programs and initiatives such as
Learning Can Be
Fun, the BRCC Arboretum,
the Women’s Resource Center,
and the
Blue Ridge Tech Prep Academy.
Spring Fling is enjoyed by many people in our community…
"Spring Fling is a worthwhile event that I look forward to each year.
The fact that it raises a remarkable amount of much needed funds is
excellent; however, you can also have a wonderful time experiencing the
auctions, the large array of foods, the high quality and variety of donated
items and mingling with all the distinguished supporters of BRCC." Donna
Bothof, Weyers Cave, VA
"My contributions to the BRCC Spring Fling auction are minor compared to
what I get out of being there and participating in the fun and festivities
of the evening. "Spring Fling" has evolved from being merely a fundraising
event; rather, it has become a celebration for the spirit of giving that
prevails among us in the BRCC Community." Cathy Dent, Cathy Dent Designs,
McGaheysville, VA
Supporters of Blue Ridge Community College helped the Educational
Foundation raise over $61,000 during the
2008 Spring Fling Auction, making it the most
successful BRCC auction to date. Sincere thanks goes to
everyone who volunteered their time, donated items, attended the
Fabulous Fifties Spring Fling Auction. Area
businesses, artists, and individuals donated more than 245 items, from a
Disneyland Dream Package to Hokie, UVA and JMU spirit packages, to limited
edition prints, original artwork and restaurant gift certificates.
Over 200 attendees spent a festive evening bidding and enjoying songs
of the ‘50s and delicious food and beverages while “Rebel Without a Cause”
played on the big screens in the Robert E. Plecker
Workforce Center.
This event was sponsored by Crosby Trucking Service, Graves & Light Wealth
Management of Wachovia Securities, Harman Construction, and Elliott
Chevrolet-Cadillac.
Make plans now to join us for the next annual Spring
Fling Auction to be held on April 17, 2009!

The BRCC Educational Foundation hosted its first Murder Mystery Dinner
on October 3, 2008. This entertaining night of intrigue and deception
featured a reception and dinner, but most importantly, the opportunity
for guests to join in the game and help solve a murder! Inspector Kathy
Johnson, of Murder is a Game Mystery Productions, led guests to
interrogate suspects, search the crime scene, and ultimately bring the
villain to justice. Check out the event website at
BRCC Educational
Foundation Murder Mystery Dinner.
