Certification

Graduating students are eligible to take the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam required by the Virginia Board of Nursing. This course meets the Virginia Board of Nursing’s requirement for Nurse Aide Training.

About the Program

The program consists of classroom, skills lab, and 40 hours of clinical training.

Admission Requirements

  • Access to computer and Internet
  • Proof of attendance at BRCC Healthcare Orientation Session
  • Healthcare Physical Form signed by physician
  • Completed signature page of Guidance Document 90-55 regarding Impact of Criminal Convictions on Nursing Licensure or Certification and Employment in Virginia
  • Signed assumption of risk form
  • Signed statement of understanding form

Required Documentation for Clinical Experience

Documentation required by clinical facilities. You must complete all documentation and submit to your instructor within two weeks of class start date, or you may be dismissed from the course WITH NO REFUND.

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitations (CPR): Students must present a valid current card and maintain CPR/AED certification throughout the program. CPR certification must be Healthcare Provider through the American Heart Association or Professional Rescuer as offered by the American Red Cross (each good for two years).
  • Clear drug screening
  • Clear criminal background check
  • Current physical exam with TB test and current immunizations, including flu shot (and other tests as required by the externship site)
  • Professional liability insurance
