Acrylic Abstract Painters: Mix Your Media AND Your Techniques

Learn the basics of collage and layering with acrylic paints, vintage papers, and printmaking techniques, while testing your use of art elements to make these experiments work as final, abstract compositions.  Explore use of household items, standard art materials and ephemera to create unique abstract paintings. Push your understanding of "abstract art" to include your own efforts, and be amazed at what you create, watching your art story deepen with a new approach. A willingness to experiment is essential!

Artistic Scarves: Design Your Own  

Enjoy a flowing activity that will inspire and amaze, plus create a wonderful gift for yourself or a special friend! You will leave class with a hand-painted, 100% silk scarf! Registration required by Mar 10.

Drawing I:  What You See, Is What You See! NEW       

Designed for absolute beginners and those wanting to expand! Work at your own pace, focusing on drawing from observation. Learn about line, shape, value, space, perspective and composition. Build drawing skills as you develop your own artistic style.

Encaustic Art: Ancient with a Contemporary Twist 

Learn the ancient, yet contemporary, art of encaustic painting, a versatile, spontaneous medium where hot wax and oil paint are applied to an absorbent, prepared surface. Applied in opaque or translucent layers, the painting is modeled, textured, scraped, sculpted, polished, or combined with a variety of materials to create collage works – an amazing method you won’t want to miss!

Night Scenes in Watercolor

Explore how to paint a city scene at night; learn to use color and value to depict night-time atmosphere. Instructor Peg Sheridan demonstrates easy-to-follow steps, and gives individual assistance to each beginning artist. Bring a brown bag lunch and your own supplies.
