Clinical Medical Assistant Training Program                   

140 Classroom Hours w/ a 160 hour Clinical Externship

This program trains students to perform clinical responsibilities in a medical office. Topics include phlebotomy, pharmacology, medication administration, vital signs, EKG, workplace behavior, ethics and more. This program includes classroom lecture, hands-on labs and a clinical externship.  Externship eligibility requires successful program completion, thorough background check, drug screening, and successful completion of CPR for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association, BLS).

Note:  Upon successful completion of this program, students would be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

CPR American Heart Association's Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers

Earn a two-year certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers CPR from the American Heart Association. Instruction includes adult, child and infant CPR, 2-rescuer CPR, use of AED and more. This course meets the regulatory requirements of the Virginia Department of Health, JCAHO, Virginia Office of EMS, OSHA, and Virginia Department of Social Services. CPR* American Heart Association’s Basic Life Support (BLS) Skills & Testing Session

Attend one in-person class at BRCC to complete hands-on skills practice and testing portions (Parts 2 and 3) of this required training for healthcare providers - AFTER you complete Part 1 online.
Pre-requisite:  Complete BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part I online.  To register (and pay $22 fee), go to the OnlineAHA.org website, click on "Course Catalog,” select BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Part I, then choose course # 90-1403).  Bring certificate showing completion of Part 1 (online portion of the training) when you attend the skills practice and testing session.

Massage Therapist    

Massage Therapists are employed in healthcare, wellness, spa settings, as well as private practice, assisting with wellness, stress management, injury rehabilitation and health and fitness. This fast-track Massage Therapy Certification Training Program combines classroom instruction (including classroom practice giving/receiving massage) with a 60-hour on-site supervised student clinic to provide a comprehensive learning experience totaling 636 hours. Program fee includes textbooks, program materials, internship (clinic) experience, certificate of completion, and state certification preparation. Massage Therapy Fact Sheet

Medical Office Operations

Nurse Re-Entry Course

Nursing Care Partner                      

This nine-week program (105 hours classroom/lab instruction, plus 90 clinical hours) teaches you to support the Registered Nurse with delivery of quality care in an acute care setting. Nursing Care Partners help patients with activities of daily living, take vital signs, perform EKG’s, draw blood, assist with dressing changes, and perform other selected procedures and tests. Personal Training Certification    

This five-week course, offered in partnership with W.I.T.S., includes hands on training, anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, and health screening.
