Security

Blue Ridge Community College is dedicated to maintaining comprehensive information technology security awareness and training program in compliance with the goals and mission of the College and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

It is everyone's responsibility to safeguard the Commonwealth's IT resources from external and internal threats.  BRCC's Security Awareness Training Program is required for all employees to help raise awareness of  potential threats.

Making Your Home Browser Safer

Most of us have our Windows XP configured so that we have full local administrator rights when we log on.  It’s much safer to use a user name with restricted rights because if you accidentally open a hostile web site, the hostile web site is also restricted in what it can do to your computer.  To help protect your home computer, one option is to use a program called DropMyRights to configure your Web browser with restricted rights.
