administrative PHONES (voip)
BRCC is part of the VCCS Voice-over-IP (VoIP) phone system
which allows us to call many areas in Virginia as local access
numbers. Use the database below to see if the area code
and exchange you wish to call is available as a local call (dial
8 instead of 9 to use this feature).
Speed Dial
Users can configure their office phones with personal speed
dial numbers.
Voice Mail
When you access your voice mail for the first time, the
system will lead you through setting your password, mailbox name
and greeting. The default password, until you change it, is
12345.
To call the voice mail server, press the “messages” button on
your BRCC phone or dial 2100. If you are using someone else’s
phone at BRCC, press “*” when the server asks for your password,
and enter your extension when it asks for your “ID.” You can
call the voice mail server from off-campus by dialing 234-9261
(Harrisonburg/Weyers Cave,) 213-7002 (Staunton) or 943-7002
(Waynesboro.) When the server answers press “*” and the server
will ask you to enter your “ID,” which is your extension.
You can access your voice mail messages from any telephone,
from your BRCC MS Outlook account, or through Outlook Web
Access. The voice mail system is integrated with your email
account. When you open a message in Outlook, the red message
waiting light on your phone goes out. When you delete a message
using your phone, the message is also deleted from your email.
Retrieving Messages From Your Phone
The red light on your handset will light up when you have a
new voicemail message. Press the messages button on your
phone or dial 2100.
Call the voice mail server and enter your password.
Playing messages:
- to play new messages press 1
- to play saved messages press 3, 1
During or After message play:
- press 2 to save a message
- press 3 to delete a message
You can change your password, mail box name, greeting, etc.
by pressing 4 (Setup Options) after you enter your password.
Retrieving Messages From Email
Your computer at BRCC should have software installed in your
Microsoft Outlook so you can quickly and easily play and respond
to voice mail. When the software is installed, your messages
will appear from "Unity Messaging System - BRAVM." When
you open the message you will see tape recorder-style buttons
that you can use to play the message. Note: If your
messages do not appear in email, please call the help desk at
2327 for software installation.
