Arboretum

About the Arboretum

Initiated in 1987 by Anne Nielsen, Associate Professor of Biology, and a group of college and community volunteers, the Blue Ridge Community College Arboretum is a living museum of native and naturalized plants from around the Commonwealth. Our purpose is the promotion of knowledge, enjoyment, use and conservation of Virginia’s native plants. We are especially interested in obtaining rare, or endangered, native and naturalized tree species.

We encourage the use of the arboretum by individuals, clubs, school groups and other organizations sharing similar goals. See tours for more information about arranging a visit.
