If you entered the College as an out-of-state student and believe you have achieved Virginia domiciliary status, a student shall establish by clear and convincing evidence that for a period of at least one year immediately prior to the first day of classes, he or she was domiciled in Virginia and has abandoned any previous domicile, or that the person on whom the student is legally and financially dependent was domiciled in Virginia.
Continuing students should submit appeals by:
- August 1 for fall semester
- December 1 for spring semester
- April 1 for summer session
Complete the Application for Re-Classification of Student’s Domicile Status - PDF and provide the proper documentation as noted on the application form. Turn in or fax your completed form and documentation to Admissions and Records (Houff Student Center). You will be notified of a decision within 3 - 5 business days and if you desire to appeal your tuition status, you may do so until the day before the first official day of the term.
Once classes begin, domicile status cannot be changed for that semester, but can be submitted for consideration of In-State tuition for the next semester.
