"Securing Our Future" Endowment Campaign
Feasibility Study
The Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation contracted with
the Clements Group, a full-service resource development consulting firm that
specializes in community colleges, in spring 2004 for the purpose of
conducting a feasibility study. The purpose of the feasibility study was to
provide BRCC with the resource information, preliminary cultivation of
prospects, and recommendations necessary to carry out a proposed major gifts
campaign.
During May 2004, Clements Group representatives conducted 75 on-site
feasibility study interviews. Through direct questioning and informal
discussion, the interviewers were able to obtain observations and judgments
regarding the College, the conduct of a major gifts campaign on behalf of
the College, a proposed campaign schedule, and the importance of the
financial needs as detailed in a preliminary case for support.
The findings of the feasibility study were significant:
- 99% of the respondents had a favorable impression of BRCC.
- 95% of the respondents had a favorable impression of BRCC
administration.
- 90% of the respondents had a favorable impression of BRCC faculty.
- 86% of the respondents had a favorable opinion regarding the
proposed major gifts campaign conducted on behalf of BRCC.
Based on the findings of the feasibility study, the BRCC Educational
Foundation Board of Directors voted to move forward with an endowment
campaign. The campaign will center on four major initiatives: student
scholarships, technology, faculty development, and workforce services. A
Campaign Management Committee, chaired by BRCC Educational Foundation Board
Chair John Flora, was established to begin campaign planning and
organization.
